The Yemeni government has revealed that there are hundreds of Yemeni girls in the prisons of the Houthi coup militia and holds the Houthis responsible for the lives of the abducted girls.
In a speech at the Warsaw Conference on Peace and Security in the Middle East, Minister of Human Rights, Dr. Muhammad Askar, said that "320 women are still detained in the prisons of the militias of the Houthi coup and that the government and the international community are working and making great efforts for their release."
In his speech, Askar pointed out that the Gulf initiative, which came after the youth revolution in February 2011, which led to a comprehensive national dialogue that resulted in a national document and a draft for the constitution that gave women 30% of political participation, but the rebellion and the coup of the Houthi militia against the state affected the transitional period and prevented the application of this document and caused a major setback for the homeland.
The Minister Askar blamed the Houthi coup militia for the causes of all the destruction and its violations, the excesses of killing and injuring civilians, especially women and children.
The Minister of Human Rights called on the international community to support the government's efforts to implement Resolution 1325 to support and empower women. And to achieve this, Resolution 2216 must be supported and implemented as a way to end the war in Yemen and bring peace.
The US State Department hosted the two-day Warsaw Conference on Peace and Security in the Middle East, in which Yemen participated within the working group on human rights.
