Dr. Ibrahim al-Shami, head of the Economic and Social Committee of the Consultative and Reconciliation Authority, indicated that the Houthi terrorist militia continues its escalation and reckless actions against the people of Yemen, moving from one war to another in futile conflicts that bring nothing but ruin and destruction.

In an interview with Yemen TV, broadcast Wednesday evening, al-Shami explained that the Houthis' recent escalation stems from two main motives. The first is an attempt to escape the urgent popular demands resulting from the unbearable situation in the areas controlled by the militia, where residents face hunger, oppression, and tyranny without receiving anything of value in return for the exorbitant taxes imposed upon them. The Houthi project revolves around the concept of power and extortion.

He pointed out that the second motive is the Houthi militia's use as a pressure tactic linked to Iranian affairs. He explained that the Iranian regime seeks to exploit this issue in its confrontation with the United States by threatening international navigation under flimsy pretexts to achieve gains that serve its interests.

Al-Shami pointed out that the unity between official bodies and the Yemeni people around the political leadership and their support for the decisions of the Presidential Leadership Council Chairman, Dr. Rashad al-Alimi, reflects a determination to restore the Yemeni state and end the coup, whether through peace or war. He added that the legitimate government is exerting every effort to preserve the lives of Yemenis, preferring a just and comprehensive peace that eliminates the root causes of the coup and rebuilds the state and its institutions.

He noted that Yemenis will not be the only ones affected by the maritime piracy operations carried out by the Houthi militia in the international waterway of the Bab al-Mandab Strait, through which 15 percent of global trade passes. These activities not only affect the region but also have repercussions for the entire world, which cannot afford another crisis there, especially given similar incidents in the Strait of Hormuz. He expected the international community to deal with this threat seriously and responsibly.

He expressed regret over the ambiguous stances adopted by the international community since the Houthi militia's coup until recently, due to a lack of awareness of its dangers until the militia revealed its true, ugly face to everyone.

Al-Shami explained that Iran and its affiliated groups are seeking to exacerbate the situation in the region, aiming to create chaos and expand the scope of tension to include the Houthi group.

He stated that the legitimate government and the Arab Coalition supporting it still prefer a peaceful solution, pointing to the initiatives launched by the Presidential Leadership Council and the government. He clarified that these initiatives stem from national responsibility and a desire to avoid escalation, especially for Yemeni citizens, particularly those residing in areas controlled by the Houthi militia.

If the Houthi militia continues its intransigence and losing gambles, Al-Shami affirmed that the legitimate government is prepared and ready, thanks to its unity in political and military decision-making, the availability of military formations on high alert, and the support of the Coalition, despite its commitment to the peace option.

He explained that the threat posed by the Houthi terrorist militia is no longer confined to the local level but has extended to the regional and international levels. He stressed the necessity for the international community, which has maintained a neutral stance for several years, to take a firm position regarding this threat. He also called for providing political and military support to the legitimate government to restore full control over Yemeni territory and ensure the security of maritime navigation, free from the piracy practices carried out by the Houthi militia on behalf of the Iranian regime.

He expressed his deep gratitude to the Arab Coalition led by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and to all brothers and friends for their positions regarding the Houthi escalation. He appealed for increased pressure on the Houthi militia to move towards peace or to support the legitimate government in fulfilling its tasks of restoring the state and ending the blackmail practiced by the Iranian-backed militias against Yemen, the region, and the world.

The head of the Economic and Social Committee of the Consultative and Reconciliation Authority affirmed that the armed forces are fully prepared to confront any escalation by the Houthis and repel any attempts by them to advance. The forces are also striving to liberate all Yemeni territory from the militia's control and end the nightmare that weighs heavily on Yemenis in the militia-held areas, where they suffer from injustice, hunger, poverty, and the militia's siege, despite its claims of being under siege.

Al-Shami denies the Houthi militia's claims of a siege on Yemen, pointing to the continued operations at the ports of Hodeidah and Salif, and the arrival of a greater number of ships compared to the port of Aden. He also clarifies that Yemen Airways continued its flights to Sana'a until the Houthi militia disrupted them.

He added that the Houthi militia is feigning suffering from a siege while it is itself besieging and starving our people inside Yemen, without any regard for the problems and suffering of Yemenis.

Al-Shami expressed his gratitude to Pakistan and all brotherly and friendly countries that condemned the blatant Iranian aggression against Yemeni sovereignty and the threat to security in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. He called for enhanced coordination to stop Iranian interference in Yemen and end the Houthis' reckless actions.

He explained that the purpose of operating Iranian flights to Sana'a is to send more weapons, support, and experts to the Houthi terrorist militia, describing the statements of Iranian regime leaders as blatant interference and calling on the international community to condemn this intervention.

Al-Shami discussed the details of the reports by the UN Panel of Experts on Yemen, which addressed the crimes and violations committed by the Houthi militia against the Yemeni people. He pointed to the enormous sums of money they are reaping from exploiting the suffering of Yemenis, whether from port revenues, the oil trade, or other sources. This comes amidst the Houthi militia leadership's disregard for the tragedies and pain of the Yemeni people.

He added, emphasizing that there is no solution for Yemen and the region except by supporting the legitimate government to strengthen its control over all parts of Yemen, its coasts, and ports. This would allow all Yemenis to enjoy security, stability, and prosperity, and would guarantee security for the region and the world.

Regarding the decision of the Presidential Leadership Council to resume oil exports, Al-Shami explained that this measure is necessary to pay the salaries of employees throughout the country. He stated that exports are expected to reach 60,000 barrels per day in the first phase, which will benefit all Yemenis.

He pointed out that unifying the political and military decision-making process has changed the equation, and that the country urgently needs to utilize its resources. He stressed that the relief, humanitarian, and economic support provided by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia was the reason the situation in the country did not collapse, expressing his appreciation for this fraternal support.

He affirmed that the salaries paid from oil revenues, in accordance with the directives of the Presidential Leadership Council, will go directly to Yemeni employees and will not end up in the hands of the Houthi terrorist militia. They will not be able to obtain any part of these funds.

He warned the Houthi terrorist militia against any reckless actions or adventures, emphasizing that the legitimate government is prepared to control all of Yemen and calling on the international community to support these efforts.

The head of the Economic and Social Committee of the Consultative and Reconciliation Authority explained that any obstruction of government and leadership policies constitutes support for the Houthi militia, which is unacceptable to the Yemeni people, the political leadership, the Arab Coalition, and Yemen's friends and allies.

He affirmed that all state institutions, political forces, and the Yemeni people stand behind the political leadership to achieve the desired goals.
