Mr. Abdul Razzaq al-Hejri, a member of the Supreme Authority of the Yemeni Islah Party and head of its parliamentary bloc, met today, Wednesday, with His Excellency Mr. Yuichi Nakashima, the Japanese Ambassador to Yemen.

During the meeting, they discussed issues of mutual interest and exchanged views on recent developments on the local and regional scene.

Al-Hejri addressed the position of the legitimate government and Yemeni political forces regarding the escalation by the Houthi terrorist militia, especially after years of squandering peace opportunities and the crimes and violations committed by this militia against the Yemeni people, as well as its attempts to drag Yemen into a regional conflict. He emphasized the concessions made by the legitimate government to achieve security and peace, highlighting the regional efforts and positive initiatives offered by brotherly and friendly nations, which have been met with intransigence from the Houthi militia.

He affirmed that the political forces, including the Islah Party, support the decisions and directives of the Presidential Leadership Council, the government, and official institutions in their efforts to restore the state. She indicated that the peaceful option remains the best choice, based on local, regional, and international frameworks, foremost among them UN Security Council Resolution 2216. She held the Houthi militia fully responsible for the consequences of its rejection of peace efforts.

Al-Hejri praised Japan's supportive stance towards the legitimate government and its efforts to achieve peace, expressing his appreciation for the relief and humanitarian aid provided to Yemen.

For his part, the Japanese Ambassador, Yuichi Nakashima, expressed his appreciation for the Islah Party, reaffirming his country's support for the Presidential Leadership Council and the government, and the importance of reaching a political solution in accordance with the recognized frameworks. He also affirmed Japan's continued support for Yemen in the humanitarian, relief, and development fields.

Participating in the meeting were the Deputy Head of the Parliamentary Bloc and Head of the Executive Office of the Islah Party in the interim capital, Aden, MP Insaf Mayo, along with Dr. Ibrahim al-Shami, who heads the Foreign Relations Office in the Islah Party's General Secretariat.
