The official spokesman for the Yemeni Islah Party, Adnan al-Audayni, confirmed the responsibility of the Houthi militias for the fate of the forcibly disappeared politician, Muhammad Qahtan.

In a Thursday post on the (X) platform, al-Audayni demanded the immediate and unconditional release of Mr. Qahtan.

He pointed out that the Houthi militias abducted Mr. Qahtan from his home and they are responsible for returning him to it as well, and any other news circulating has no value to us.”

Muhammad Qahtan, a member of the Supreme Authority of the Yemeni Islah Party, was one of the most prominent politicians kidnapped by the Houthi militias in April 2015, where he was taken to an unknown location. Since then, the militias have continued to refuse to communicate with his family and reveal his fate, in a flagrant violation of all international and humanitarian laws.

While the Islah Party and human rights and political circles renew their repeated calls to release Qahtan, along with thousands of kidnapped people in Houthi prisons, the Islah Party holds the group fully responsible for their safety, amid demands for the international community to double their pressure on the Houthis to stop their ongoing violations against politicians and opponents.
