The Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, member of the Saudi Cabinet, Adel al-Jubair, called on the world to take a firm stand against Iran for its role in sponsoring terrorism.

In a press conference held today, Monday, with the participation of the American Special Representative with Iranian Affairs and the Senior Policy Adviser to US Secretary of State Brian Hook, al-Jubair stated that the Houthi coup militia carried out 1,659 attacks against civilians in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and fired 318 Iranian-made ballistic missiles, in addition to the launch of 371 drones and 64 marched booby-trapped ships to block free navigating in the region of Bab al-Mandab and the Red Sea.

He said, "Yesterday, shipments of Iranian weapons were seized on the way to the Houthi militia," noting that Iran used the sources it receives through agreements in support of building hospitals and roads to support the devastation in Syria, Iraq and Yemen.

Al-Jubair reviewed a number of Houthi attacks that targeted civilians in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia using ballistic missiles, drones and weapons that Iran provides to terrorist organizations.

He stressed working together with the United States to prevent Iran from exporting weapons, noting that Iran seeks to provide weapons to terrorist organizations despite the existence of the embargo, and that if the embargo is lifted, it will be more aggressive.

For his part, the American official made it clear that Iran has been supplying weapons to the Houthis since 2016 and is still continuing to do so, noting that two Iranian arms shipments were seized and confiscated in November and February, and this is a flagrant violation to peace resolution 231 and 216, in addition to seizing an arms shipment while was on its way to the Houthi militia.

Brian Hook emphasized that Saudi Arabia and other countries are working with the United Nations delegate to advance the political process in Yemen, considering that reducing violence in Yemen is a major challenge.

He pointed out that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has supported the proposals of the delegate of the United Nations with regard to the cease-fire, the opening of Sanaa airport and the main roads, and the support of civil salaries, as well as carrying out a comprehensive political process.

"Iran's leaders reject diplomacy, deepen the wounds of Yemen, support with missiles, drones, and advanced weapons, while the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the United States provide support and humanitarian assistance to Yemenis," he said, stressing that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia wants to end the war and Iran is looking for an endless war.

Brian Hook confirmed his stand with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and other Gulf States, calling on the Security Council to extend the arms embargo imposed on Iran to ensure stability in the region.
