Today is the fifth anniversary of the abduction and disappearance of one of the symbols of Yemeni political life the struggler Muhammad Muhammad Qahtan, a member of the Supreme Authority of the Yemeni Islah Party by the criminal Houthi militia, while the Houthi militia continues to insist on its heinous crime that deprives a person of his right to life.

Since the abduction of the struggler Muhammad Qahtan, on the fifth of April 2015, and despite the issuance of the Security Council resolution that stressed the release of the abducted political leaders by the militia, including Mr. Muhammad Qahtan, in addition to Major General Mahmoud al-Subayhi, Major General Faisal Rajab, Major General Nasser Mansour, and all the abducted, but the global conscience pretend not to see the abduction crime of Qahtan and thousands of Yemenis who did not commit crime except that they announced their rejection of the Houthi militia coup and adhered to the right of the Yemenis to end the coup and restore state institutions.

Despite the deteriorating health status of the struggler Qahtan, the coup militia has been careful to absent him and thousands of Yemenis from political and media leaders, journalists and civil activists, and these militias practiced torture and various violations against them, not indifferent to the health complications that many of them suffered, ignoring all human values, international laws and human rights claims.

We in the Yemeni Islah Party believe that the abduction of the man of dialogue and politics and one of the most prominent political figures in the country was not the abduction of a person as much as it was the abduction of a homeland, the bulldozing of the political life, the destruction of the elements of the national state and heinous crime that reflected the ugliness and criminality of the kidnappers and their diseased psyche.

Qahtan was a pure national expression, who fought the political battle with the nobility of the exceptional national struggler, and turned into a collective conscience of the strugglers of Yemen with their various intellectual and political directions, and therefore his abduction and absence in this barbaric image is only an expression of the militia's brutality towards the collective national conscience that he represents.

The national struggle that Qahtan and all the abductees in the prisons of the obscurantist group and paid the expensive cost of their lives for the dignity and freedom of all the people, forces everyone to turn around these national principles and values and thwart the plans of the dynastic gang that has mortgaged itself to Iran and its bloody sectarian project, and it also requires the forgiveness of all what would disturb the unity of the national ranks and the disruption of the national front, which is fighting for the Republic and the principles of the revolution of September 26 and October 14, because in its cohesion lies the defeat of the non-national Houthi project and puts an end to its crimes and violations against the Yemenis.

At the time the Yemeni Islah Party condemns this criminal behavior represented in the continued absence and forcibly disappearance of Mr. Muhammad Qahtan throughout these years, calls the Houthi militia to leave its seducement and immediately release him and all abductees. And we hold it fully responsible for his safety and the safety of all the abductees, especially in light of the spread of the global epidemic (COVID-19 virus). We hope that all local and international human rights organizations and all rational people in Yemen will move towards the release of all the abducted people unconditionally, in line with the humanitarian directions of the international community today aimed at reducing the repercussions of the pandemic.

The continuation of inaction by the international community and the United Nations of the continuation of the absence of Qahtan and his companions as well as their condoning conditions of the abductees in the prisons of the Houthi militia with the physical and psychological abuse and brutal torture they subjected to, which led to the death of many of them, encouraged the coupists to continue their crime, which obliges the international bodies that claim their concern to achieving a comprehensive peace in Yemen, in accordance with the agreed references, to be more strict and serious today in saving Qahtan and all the abductees, and working to implement the UN resolutions that stipulated the speedy release of political leaders detained in its prisons.

We also renew our appeal to the United Nations, the Security Council and all humanitarian organizations to move quickly and urgently to save the politician, Muhammad Qahtan, who is forcibly disappeared despite his health conditions and old age, especially with what the world is suffering today due to the spread of the new COVID-19 virus, and we call on the UN envoy to Yemen to take responsibility in the file of the abducted and forcibly disappeared in the Houthi militia prisons.
