A group of Yemeni human rights and media activists announced a worldwide electronic campaign to save and release all prisoners and detainees in Yemeni prisons, in anticipation of Corona epidemic outbreak that plagued almost the whole world.

The campaign, which will start at 4 pm tomorrow, and will continue for three days, calls for immediate action to pressure all parties concerned in Yemen to release all detainees and prisoners, and to launch urgent humanitarian initiatives in this regard, before it is too late, under the hashtag: #SaveYemeniPrisoners.

Latifa Jamil, the campaign coordinator, and human rights activist said that the campaign aims to exert pressure on all Yemeni parties to release all detainees and prisoners in light of the tragic conditions that Yemeni prisons suffer from and lack of the minimum adequate health and humanitarian standards, which does not threaten the lives of detainees and prisoners only, rather constitute a serious hotbed for the virus to spread beyond the walls of these prisons and detention centers.

Latifa called on all activists and various media outlets to participate actively in this campaign, based on the common responsibility towards this great humanitarian cause.

Several local and international human rights and humanitarian organizations are expected to participate in the campaign to demand saving the lives and rescue the prisoners and detainees before the imminent outbreak of the Corona epidemic in the country.
