A human rights report documents 46 cases of physical assaults against women in Taiz

The Human Rights Information and Training Center recorded 46 cases of physical assaults against women in Taiz governorate between January to October 2019, of which 44 assaults committed by Houthi militias.

"Taiz governorate has the highest rate of female victims among different governorates," the center said in its report, which issued in coincided with the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women.

The field team of the Center documented the killing of 17 women, of which about 14 murders committed by the Houthi militia, 4 women were killed by mortar shells, while snipers belonging to the Houthi militias killed 3 other women and 5 women were killed by mines planted randomly by the Houthi militia and one woman was killed by directly shooting fire by the militia, in addition to a militia follower killed his mother with a dagger.

The Center explained that the clashes between the security committee and gunmen outside the state caused the deaths of two women, while another woman was killed by a gunman outside the state, and a woman was also killed in an airstrike by the Arab Alliance.

The team documented the injury of 36 women, 30 of whom were wounded by the Houthi militia, where 14 women were wounded by shrapnel due to shells and different artilleries, 10 women also were wounded by bullets of the militia snipers, and mines caused the injury of other 6 women.

While clashes between the security committee and gunmen outside the state resulted in the injury of two women and a woman was wounded as a result of an explosive device planted by unknown persons. Three women were wounded by bullets of gunmen outside the state.

The report said that women in Sanaa suffer systematic repression by the Houthi authorities, which varied between the arrest of dozens of women by the Houthi security services and fabrication of various charges of political affiliation to charges of various moral crimes.

According to data from human rights organizations in Sanaa, there are more than 200 women among the abducted and hidden or are being repressively prosecuted and in organized terrorism by security services belonging to the leaders of the Houthi forces.
