الجمعة 12 إبريل-نيسان 2019 الساعة 08 مساءً / Al-Islah.net – Taiz

The war imposed on Taiz governorate continues in a number of areas, villages and neighborhoods.

In the midst of the accelerating events in Taiz, the curtain is closing on this governorate to complete its fourth year of war, hell and fragmentation suffered by it, as well as the suffering of its resident from many types of tragedies because of this war.

In light of these developments, the Humanitarian Relief Coalition in Taiz issued its new report for the first quarter of 2019, which includes figures and statistics to monitor the humanitarian situation in the governorate, which is fighting for survival and live.

The report confirms that 51 families lost their breadwinners, while 32 breadwinners were injured.

According to the report, 6 children, 6 women and 10 youths were killed in the first quarter of this year, while 15 children and 5 women were injured during the same period.

At the same time, the report recorded a new number of orphans left behind by the war, which numbered 148 this time.

The new report pointed out that the total public and private property damaged and destroyed by the continuation of the war amounted to 33 public and private facilities and properties.

On the health level, the cholera epidemic has spread again in the governorate after months of stoppage, but this time at a higher rate and faster than the previous period, resulting in a large number of deaths and injuries.

The total number of cases received by hospitals in the governorate during the first quarter of 2019 amounted to 6209 injured, while 28 of them died of their injuries with cholera.

In view of the number of cases received by the governorate's hospitals and health centers, the epidemic has expanded further during the last three weeks of the reporting period compared to the previous period.

However, humanitarian and medical interventions by the Coalition, its partners and humanitarian workers to curb the expansion of the epidemic were modest compared with support for the governorate, particularly as the spread of the epidemic increases and the number of casualties and deaths increases.

At the same time, the health authorities in the governorate confirm that their ability to continue to receive cases of cholera is facing many difficulties and problems, the most prominent of which is the inability to receive these large numbers, and the necessary tests and treatment of infected cases, instead of cases of death.

At the time the Humanitarian Relief Coalition is reviewing the health disaster that has afflicted the people of the governorate, it renews its appeal to all local and international organizations working in the field of health to provide the hospitals in Taiz governorate with medicines and supplies to combat the epidemic and to provide awareness and prevention projects.
