Statement:
The Legal Department of the Yemeni Islah Party in the Taiz followed the slogans and provocative calls made by the participants in the demonstration carried out by the Nasserite People's Unionist Organization in Taiz governorate on April 6, 2019. The demonstrators chanted "No Islah after today" and other provocative chants directed against the Yemeni Islah Party, while we need to unite the word and the ranks to face the dark project of the Houthi priesthood that targets all Yemen and Yemenis and to direct all capabilities towards common enemy instead of dedicating themselves to incitement against a party that is a partner in the national struggle and forget the Houthi, which spreads murder and destruction.
It was sad and regrettable that these provocative attitudes directed against Islah Party come at a time when we need to gather the word and the ranks to face the dark project of the Houthi priesthood that targets all Yemen and Yemenis and to direct all capabilities towards the common enemy rather than devote themselves to incitement against a partner party and forgetting Houthi, which spreads murder and destruction.
According to the Constitution and the law, the Legal Department of the Yemeni Islah Party strongly condemns these exclusionary calls and the incitement to abolish a political party. The Yemeni Islah Party considers these calls and slogans to be a direct threat to the political process as well as to the future of the generations that are betting on the participatory democratic process and the multiplicity of political parties in getting out from the existing reality to a free and participatory democratic future.
While the Legal Department strongly affirms the fundamental right of individuals and political parties to freedom of expression in all its forms, including the right to demonstrate, sit in and organize Popular demonstrations, it affirms the responsibility of the organizers of these events to direct and control the participants' discourse to the extent that this discourse leads to enhancing this right for all not to devote the culture of abolishment, exclusion and generalization of hatefulness. This is why we call upon the brothers in the leadership of the Organization as partners in political life to condemn these calls and slogans and declaring their denial of such a speech, which requires their leadership to determine their position on this destructive discourse that threatens the political life in its most important pillar of which is the multi-party system which is the basis of the political system in Yemen.
We also call upon all partners in the political process to condemn this unbridled behavior and to commit themselves to the same constitutional values that protect the right of political existence for all, guarantee partnership and help mature the constructive moral discourse and free us from the culture and the evils of generality of the past, and we all realize the dangers of its return.
